The Opportunity
The Williamson, Inc. Economic Development team is seeking a strategic relationship-focused
professional to serve as Director of Government and Community Relations. Reporting to the
Chief Economic Development Officer, this individual will serve as a trusted advisor and
connector, helping to shape and execute Williamson, Inc.’s advocacy, government relations, and
community relations strategy while strengthening relationships with local, state and federal
leaders.
This position requires a thoughtful balance of diplomacy, strategic insight and decisive
execution. The successful candidate will be charged with building credibility with business and
elected leaders, will have strong communication skills and will have the ability to translate
complex issues into clear and compelling narratives that drive understanding and alignment,
ultimately working to ensure Williamson County remains a premier place to live and do
business.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as an organizational liaison to local, regional, and state government officials, fostering strong, trust-based relationships.
- Develop, manage and activate the Williamson, Inc. Advocacy Committee to advancepolicy and engagement goals.
- Partner with the President and CEO, and the Chief Economic Development Officer, in the development and execution of strategies that advance Williamson, Inc.’s advocacy priorities and strengthen the relationship between Williamson, Inc. and the community’s elected leadership.
- Lead key organizational initiatives including Policy Talks, Day on the Hill, Meet the Candidates, and coordinate the municipal annual address series in collaboration with the Vice President of Events and with the Vice President of Marketing and Communications.
- Manage advocacy communication and education initiatives such as the monthly Williamson Primer mailer and voter education assets, ensuring all materials are written, distributed and reflected accurately on the website.
- Represent Williamson, Inc. at government and community meetings; early morning and occasional evening commitments are expected.
- Collaborate with peer organizations and regional partners to align strategies and broaden Williamson County’s influence within the state.
- Track and communicate relevant legislative and policy developments across municipal, county and state government.
- Equip staff and organizational stakeholders with timely insights regarding legislative action that will impact Williamson County generally and organizational priorities specifically.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, communications, or a related field.
- Two years of progressively responsible experience in government relations or community relations preferred.
- Proven track record of managing advocacy initiatives, engaging volunteer leaders, and influencing policy outcomes.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex topics to diverse audiences.
- Strong project management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarization of the political landscape in the middle Tennessee region is a plus.
- Strong strategic thinking, relationship management, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

This role offers a salary range of $50,000-$70,000, commensurate with experience,
comprehensive benefits and generous paid time off.
