About Nicole Brandt
Nicole Brandt is the founder and executive director of Poverty & the Arts. She is an entrepreneur, advocate, animal lover and social artist. She graduated magna cum laude from Belmont University in May 2014. She started the programs of Poverty & the Arts in fall of 2011 through an on-campus job in Belmont's Department of Service-Learning. As a junior in the spring 2013, she began the process to file for 501(c)3 status. Her senior year of college, Nicole interned at the Arts and Business Council and under the art therapist at Room in the Inn. Nicole has been working with the homeless for seven years, beginning in Louisville, Kentucky. She has always been inspired by the hearts of the homeless and hopes to find ways to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor. When she’s not dreaming and planning for Poverty & the Arts, Nicole likes traveling, Indian/Thai food, going on adventures with her dog, Max, and listening to the stories in her community.
About Abby Harwood
Abby Harwood grew up in Nashville and, after graduating from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, returned to the area. She has been with the National MS Society for three years, where she is currently the director of development. Abby leads the development team in raising over $2 million, through 17 fundraising events that take place annually across the state of Tennessee. The mission of the National MS Society is: People affected by MS can live their best lives as we stop MS in its tracks, restore what has been lost and end MS forever. Abby works every day to generate awareness, raise funds and impact the MS community.
About Tiffany Patton
Tiffany Patton is the executive director of Girls on the Run of Middle Tennessee, an organization that inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience based curriculum that creatively integrates running.
Tiffany Patton has worked on behalf of youth for nearly 15 years, with her experience spanning from direct-service delivery as well as training, fundraising, volunteer management, partnership development and board participation. Her accomplishments include recruiting over 1,000 potential volunteers to serve as mentors for children from single parent homes, training over 6,000 youth service provides in suicide prevention techniques in the state of Tennessee and training youth with severe mental health challenges to become their own advocates, culminating with their invitation to speak at the national Federation of Families Conference in Washington D.C. She has a personal passion for seeing youth reach their full potential and that passion has permeated her work.

Belmont University
Melanie is the Director with the Center for Executive Education at Belmont University. In this role, she leads CEE’s team of facilitators, curriculum designers, and program staff in developing programs and instructing leaders within the center’s programs. She has experience in developing and teaching fully customized leadership development programs for organizations, and specializes in cultivating a connection between the topics she teaches and the strategic focus of those organizations. One of the main goals Melanie has for the participants of CEE’s sessions is that they are able to readily understand and apply new concepts, fully embracing the center’s motto of “learn it today, apply it tomorrow.”
